U.S. Approves Nonimmigrant Investor Treaty with New Zealand to Allow Reciprocal Entry

The Knowledgeable Innovators and Worthy Investors (KIWI) Act was signed into law by President Trump on August 1. This will grant certain New Zealand citizens nonimmigrant status to enter into the United States as traders and investors as long as reciprocal treatment is extended to eligible United States citizens.

Winston Peters, New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the KIWI Act is intended to develop and strengthen a trading relationship between New Zealand and the United States that will advance the economies of both nations and more easily facilitate success for New Zealand businesses in the United States economy.

This legislation is intended to demonstrate the United States’ continuing recognition of investment and innovation, said Scott Brown, U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand.
