Miller Mayer immigration attorney David Wilks successfully obtained urgently needed O-1 status for a structural engineer/postdoctoral fellow who uses computer vision technology to monitor the health of civil infrastructure, such as bridges and dams. By so doing, inspectors use drones to access greater information regarding the health of civil infrastructure without needing to personally inspect each bridge and dam. Such in-person inspections require the inspector to be placed in precarious positions, as they have to manually assess infrastructure conditions.
Despite the reduced timeframe to put the O-1 together, the USCIS approved the O-1 petition without a Request for Evidence. Additionally, by promptly obtaining O-1 status, it allowed the fellow’s spouse to obtain the requisite O-3 nonimmigrant status to begin her own studies this fall.
O-1 visas are granted to those who have risen to the very top of their field. If you have questions about the O-1 visa, and whether it is right for you, please contact us to schedule a consultation.
