At long last, Congress has heeded the call of EB-5 investors and industry stakeholders. A reauthorization of the EB-5 Regional Center program has been included in the omnibus spending bill, which now awaits President Biden’s signature.
This reauthorization lasts for 5 years through 2027 and includes reforms to the EB-5 program. Notably, the minimum investment amounts have changed to $800,000 or $1,050,000, depending on the type or location of the project. The EB-5 reauthorization bill includes grandfathering provisions for existing investors whose petitions will be adjudicated under current rules.
