A Canada-trained doctor was granted a national interest exemption to the travel ban, and was issued an immigrant visa last month at the U.S. consulate in Montreal.  Our successful resolution of this final obstacle in an already lengthy green card process was supported by Miller Mayer’s experience with consular issues, and institutional support from our hospital client.  We are glad to bring another desperately needed specialist physician to rural upstate New York.

Happily, we were also able to assist a physician’s assistant who had left the U.S. quickly to attend a funeral at home, and by so doing became subject to the H-1B travel ban.  Drawing upon her “essential worker” status in a nursing home in upstate New York, we were able to secure her safe and timely return to the U.S.
