On October 30, Rosanne Mayer led a panel discussion at the NAFSA Region X conference on recent trends in post-graduation options for students. The panel discussed the increasing difficulty in getting an H-1B and optional practice training (OPT), STEM OPT issues, curricular practical training issues, visa issuance delays, the impact of new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services guidance and policies concerning unlawful presence, the impact of retrogression in certain green card categories, the possible elimination of work permits for H-4 spouses, the proposed public charge rule, and litigation concerning the deferred action for childhood arrivals program.
